Dominican Navy rescues 46 boatpeople in the Atlantic

Santo Domingo.-The Dominican Navy early Tuesday rescued 46 boatpeople off the coast of Nagua aboard a makeshift boat (yola) trying to reach Puerto Rico.
Navy spokesman Daniel de la Rosa said the group from Maria Trinidad Sánchez province was taken on a catamaran to the port at Samana, where a medical will evaluate their health status.
He said the illegal travelers suffered from dehydration, adding that because of the rough seas in the area it will take longer for the catamaran to reach Samana.
