MESCyT and Caribbean University forge alliance for academic advancement

Santo Domingo.- The Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (MESCyT) and Caribbean University (CU) have entered into a collaborative agreement, aiming to jointly engage in activities encompassing academic, scientific, and cultural domains of shared interest for both the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico.

Under the leadership of Franklin García Fermín and Ana E. Cucurella Rivera, heads of the respective institutions, the agreement facilitates the exchange of professors and students, the coordination of seminars and lecture series, cultural exchange initiatives, specific research endeavors, researcher training, and other targeted activities.

This comprehensive document also outlines scholarships available for Dominican students pursuing a Master of Arts in Education with a specialization in Special Education and a Doctorate in Philosophy in Education with a specialization in Curriculum and Teaching. The scholarships cover tuition and administrative costs, contingent upon students meeting the criteria set by CU and obtaining qualifications recognized by MESCyT.

Both institutions share a common interest in fostering teaching, research, social action, study, analysis, artistic creation, and the dissemination of knowledge, aligning with the goals outlined in the Joint Declaration between the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico. This declaration seeks to promote collaborations between universities and higher education institutions in both countries.

Franklin García Fermín, the head of MESCyT, expressed appreciation for the positive alliance between the two nations, recognizing its role in equipping students with the necessary knowledge to tackle present and future challenges.

The framework agreement takes effect upon its supervision, with a duration of five years. In the event of termination before the stipulated term, ongoing programs will conclude satisfactorily, ensuring no detriment to the students or professors involved.
