“More critical than before,” diagnosis of the only minor to survive the fire in Salcedo carnival

In a very reserved state, “with an even more critical condition than in the previous days,” remains the only minor who is still alive in the Hospital Infantil Regional Universitario Doctor Arturo Grullón of Santiago, after the fire at the carnival of Salcedo, according to Dr. Alicia Rivas, director of the health center.

“In the last 24 hours he has not presented any positive change, that is to say, we remain with a very reserved prognosis,” Rivas said.

The 12-year-old child has responded to the skin grafts he received in surgery a few days ago; however, it is “the homeostasis or internal balance of the response he gives to the different clinical treatments” that worries the doctors who are treating him at the Doctora Thelma Rosario Burned Children’s Unit.

DECEASED
Jean Elvis Jimenez died last Thursday night after suffering a multi-organ failure after being admitted to the Arturo Grullon Hospital several weeks ago.

According to Dr. Rivas, the 8-year-old boy was never able to stabilize.

She also indicated that from the beginning, they were never able to talk about giving hope to the family members since the prognosis remained very guarded.

With him, the number of deceased in this tragedy, which occurred on March 10 during the Salcedo carnival, rises to seven, including six minors and one adult.

A total of 19 people were affected, 12 of them with second and third-degree burns on 60 and 80% of their bodies.
