Easter Week 2024 police prepare to guarantee “Safe Return” of vacationers

The General Directorate of the National Police has set up a preventive action plan within the framework of Operation “Conscience for Life, Easter Week 2024”, to ensure the safe return to their homes of vacationers who are enjoying the various tourist destinations in the country.
The main purpose of the initiative is to guarantee the safe movement of citizens returning to their homes from and to the main provinces of the country on the main highways, roads, avenues, streets, bridges and main entrances to urban centers.
For the occasion, Major General Ramon Antonio Guzman Peralta, instructed to implement focused, preventive actions based on due respect for human rights.
The scope of the actions to be implemented will be in charge of the Central Directorate of Prevention with specific provisions to be implemented throughout the country.
Protocol to be followed
Within the general provisions it is established that agents must act with prudence to prevent unnecessary conflicts with citizens, taking into account the proportional use of force.
Also, regional directors, departmental commanders and supervisors must reinforce with the human and logistical resources available in their respective jurisdictions, the entrances to urban centers, especially bridges, roads, main highways (Duarte highway, Las Americas, Sanchez highway).
Likewise, it is established that police personnel on duty at beaches and seaside resorts should be available to provide security on roads, highways, highways and avenues throughout the national territory, as appropriate and in coordination with the central director of Prevention.
Supervision
These measures will be supervised by the Inspector General’s Office of the National Police, in order to ensure faithful compliance with this directive, instructing the deputy inspectors to take the necessary corrective measures to ensure compliance with the objectives set forth.
The implementation of Phase II (Safe Return) will be coordinated by the central director of Prevention, who will keep the general director of the National Police informed of any event until its conclusion.
The implementation of these actions will be done in coordination with the General Directorate of Transit Security and Land Transportation (Digesett); the Central Directorate of Intelligence (Dintel), Central Directorate of Support and Services; Central Directorate of Internal Affairs; Central Directorate of the Tourism Police (Politur); Directorate of Strategic Communications; Directorate of Police Protection and Specialized Services; General Teaching Hospital of the National Police (Hosgedopol), Administrative and Financial Directorate and the Department of Information and Statistics.
Coordination Actions
A liaison officer will be appointed between the Emergency Operations Center (COE) and the law enforcement agency.
The participating state support entities are the Ministry of Defense; Ministry of Interior and Police; Ministry of Public Health; Ministry of Public Works and Communications; Emergency Operations Center; Attorney General’s Office; Civil Defense; Dominican Red Cross; Dominican Fire Department.
