U.S. Consulate in Dominican Republic to allow cell phones for Visa applicants
Santo Domingo.- Starting September 23, visa applicants will be permitted to bring their cell phones into the U.S. Consulate in the Dominican Republic. This marks the end of a long-standing ban, though restrictions remain in place: mobile devices cannot be used to take photos, make videos, or make calls within the consulate.
Consul General in Santo Domingo, Greg Segas, announced this update at a press conference, emphasizing that the change aims to enhance the visitor experience while maintaining the security of the diplomatic mission.
In addition, Segas revealed the opening of a new Visa Service Center (VAC) located on the first floor of the Sambil shopping center, effective the same day.
