National Police to introduce new uniforms and modernization initiatives in 2025
Santo Domingo.- President Luis Abinader announced that the National Police will unveil new uniforms in 2025 as part of an ongoing reform initiative aimed at modernizing the police force. During a weekly media briefing, he presented the uniform prototype and detailed various measures aimed at enhancing police operations, education, and administration. This reform, initiated during Abinader’s first term, includes the establishment of an advisory board of experts from civil society to guide the transformation.
Abinader outlined a new career system that rewards merit, upholds police rights, and promotes career advancement with clear regulations for all ranks. The reforms also aim to improve police operational capabilities and educational quality, shift towards a service-oriented patrol model, and decentralize service delivery through provincial and municipal police structures.
To bolster police equipment and mobility, the government plans to acquire drones, mobile crime labs, and traffic control radars. A budget increase will support the purchase of vehicles and training for 20,000 new police officers over the next four years, with 4,132 currently in training. Additionally, the National Police has seen seven salary increases in the past three years, the opening of 32 new stations, and a focus on enhanced training in emotional intelligence and human rights for active officers.
Technological advancements are also a priority, with the implementation of a crime tracking platform that facilitates data sharing among 33 government entities. Significant service improvements have been reported, including over 68 million queries conducted using biometric screening systems, which have led to the issuance of numerous arrest warrants. Upcoming projects include a Command and Control Center for Citizen Security and the testing of new technologies for identifying suspects and tracking vehicles, further demonstrating the government’s commitment to modernizing the police force.
Who owns the company that is making the uniforms?
uh oh, thats a dangerous question. its like you can connect the dots, behind the surface appearance. you’re not from around here, are ya?
Who really cares who owns the company that makes the uniform, it’s a small country, I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s someone the president knows. The top 1% of the country is a small club, since the country population is about 12 million people
Doesn’t really matter in the end
The uniform looks modern and is a new look for the police force.
Say you work for the government without saying you work for the government, triggered
New uniforms for police while citizens are suffering? Rearranging the deck chairs on a sinking titanic doesn’t change anything!
New uniforms brighter patches! Good. Easier to recognize who will accept a bribe!
All I see is the negative talks, the government is actually trying to better the police.
Stop complaining and support the effort.
This country has come a long way since the early 2000s
the future is bright
that all sounds good but the fact still remains that the police come to work to go out and extort money and confiscate motorcycles for 1 to 5000 pesos extortion. the police are in cahoots with the judges, the thieves and lawyers. it is a racket in boca Chica. so, with the new changes they need to clean up the police, judges, lawyers.
Not bad! much better than the military-inspired used in the past.
Now they have body cams with audio so it will be more entertaining than ever.
As a tourist these uniforms look 100% better and the body camera, allows to hold officers responsible for their action and provide evidence to support their claims, the tasers allows the officers to use less than lethal, in which only having a gun didn’t allow them too. I will keep visiting hope their are info around the airports to show people what the new police uniform is so they don’t get someone who takes the old uniform and uses it for bad
