Santo Domingo.- Héctor Porcella, president of the Dominican Republic’s Civil Aviation Board (JAC), urged the Argentine government to eliminate short-term visas for Dominican citizens to boost tourism and strengthen regional air connectivity.

Porcella emphasized that removing visa requirements would encourage greater passenger flow between the two nations, fostering reciprocity and economic benefits. He noted that from January to November 2024, 147,032 passengers traveled on 927 flights between Argentina and the Dominican Republic, making Argentina the third most active South American market for the Caribbean nation.

The proposal was presented during Porcella’s visit to Argentina, where both countries signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and an Air Services Agreement (ASA). These agreements aim to increase flight frequency, promote tourism, and attract investments in commercial aviation.
