Santo Domingo.- An American missionary and his family were rescued in Haiti through a joint operation involving the Dominican Republic’s National Intelligence Directorate (DNI) and U.S. military personnel from Project DYNAMO.
The mission, named “Operation Yellowtail,” faced extreme risks due to escalating gang violence in Haiti. Rescued were Zachary, 24, Mica, 26, and their five-month-old daughter, Niah, who were trapped in a mission compound in Saint-Marc, a location frequently targeted by gangs. The family was airlifted by helicopter and transferred to a private plane in Cap-Haitien before arriving safely in Santo Domingo.
Project DYNAMO expressed gratitude to the Dominican government, DNI, and U.S. Senator Ted Cruz for their support. After medical evaluations and coordination with the U.S. Embassy in Santo Domingo, the family is expected to reunite with their loved ones in the U.S. later this week.
