All diplomatic staff of the European Union leave Haiti

Port-au-Prince.- The European Union spokesperson, Peter Stano, has confirmed the evacuation of all diplomatic personnel from the organization stationed in Haiti, citing the alarming deterioration of the security situation in the country.

Following the departure of de facto Prime Minister Ariel Henry, Haiti has experienced a drastic escalation in security concerns, particularly in the capital, Port-au-Prince, where armed gangs have effectively taken control. The city’s landscape has undergone significant changes, with lawless zones multiplying, and some areas completely abandoned to these armed groups, who now dominate at least 80% of the capital. As a result, the population is compelled to limit their movements, with a pervasive sense of uncertainty and fear prevailing.

The once-common expression “until tomorrow, God willing” has morphed into a more ominous “until tomorrow, if the bandits want.” The prevailing insecurity has created an atmosphere where everyone anticipates their turn to become victims of kidnappings, robberies, rapes, or armed attacks.

The imposition of a state of emergency has extinguished nightlife in the Port-au-Prince metropolitan area. As night falls, the streets become desolate, and merchants hurriedly abandon their sidewalks-turned-public markets, where garbage mingles with remaining merchandise.

Residents rush home as the streets, once bustling with Haitians seeking sustenance, become inhospitable. A prevailing sentiment is that “seeking life destroys life.” Previously popular sociocultural activities, such as music, including rap, and sports like football and basketball, have lost their significance. The vibrant late-night food vendors, once part of a festive atmosphere, have also disappeared.

“Sociocultural activities are completely reduced. I see my friends leaving Haiti due to the violence. Despite the challenges of living normally, we must fight to prevent our beautiful country from disappearing,” remarks Sabin, reflecting the grim reality faced by many.

The territories surrendered to gangs continue to expand, with once-safe areas turning into epicenters of violence. This has led civilians, abandoned to their fate, to flee in search of safety. In a country ravaged by unemployment, exacerbated by insecurity forcing companies into bankruptcy, it has become easier to face the threat of a stray bullet than to find employment opportunities.

If America struggles mightily with their southern borders, how can we be so certain Haitian and DR border is as secure as they say?

Bribes, backs turned, night time vigilance. The border is broken. Yes, good show to deny Ariel Henry entry, but the reality is the gangs are going to make their way east, armed and dangerous.

Dominicans and their hatred towards Haitian will now comeback tenfold and we can see an all out war breaking out in D.R.

Time to find a new (safe) home.

Dominicans have no clue about self preservation. All they know is money! Without Haitians no more construction, sugar cane and tourism! Dominicans are too lazy to work!!

what hatred ? the Dominicans have two to three million Haitians in the Dominican republic. supplying the Haitians with shelter education and food. The real question is when are the Haitians going to rule themselves.

2 to 3 million documented Haitians or undocumented? Big numbers and big differences.

There is a big racial issue towards Haitians, still, especially in rural/smaller areas. Did you forget the random deportations just happening recently? Maybe with social media and younger generation, it’s a changing perspective, but still a minority view.

And Haitians will rule themselves when France is found guilty for usury for the independence debt which set this country back hundreds of years. Let the snobby French fix Haiti for breaking it in the first place.

If you keep talking about France owes you money. Haiti will never rise up. If that’s the case. I can’t wait until Trujillo comes back. Because the way the Dominican Republic is running with this democracy bullshit. And all this local political parties stealing and borrowing money. The Dr is going in that same direction.

Very funny guy here , hatred towards Haitians, well if he say so , let it be , the very same can be said of the Haitians and of course Haiti founding father(s) were real racist against any they weren’t the same skin tone , I hoping Haiti rebuild their army or tribe gangs what ever they want to be called . I hoping one day Haitians and Dominicans settle theirs differences on the battlefield again . Dominicans were very outnumbered and out gun in the old days , I wonder how it will turn out now . Good luck afrocentrics .They should be only one ruler on the island, anyways all my bets on the Dominicans.

Thank you for adding to my point. Yes it’s a 2-way hatred, I don’t disagree.

I think in present day, should a conflict break out, DR would prevail ONLY with the assistance of allied nations.

Follow the money, where are the most active and thriving investments? Last I checked, Haiti receives trivial GDP from tourism. That alone answers the question easily.

This is good news for Haiti. The West needs to stay out. China and Russia need to establish a diplomatic presence.

I hope your comment is purely a joke.

China and Russia, 2 countries whose economic, socioeconomic and political trust is on a sharp decline. Great idea.

Not to mention, authoritarian despots who have no regard for other ethnicities outside of their own.

America has its problems too, but Haiti top priority needs a functioning governmental structure before anything else. And how/who helps them is anyones guess at this point.

“Sharp decline “?!…i just got back from China (BTW I go to China and far east very often ) , and it’s highly recommended for everyone to check their sources of “information”…
Spewing unnecessary blatherskite collected from some that can’t even spell China correctly leads nowhere …
FYI i do occasionally go through Alma Ata (hope you know where that is ) to Russia also …
And let me tell ya’ ,unfortunately you’ve been mislead …

Funny, I don’t recall misspelling China. Perhaps you are projecting your own ignorance, in which case, I will give you a peso of pity just this one time.

And yes, I know and have been to Kazakhstan. I am Russian, and I know the immense corruption and political tragedies this country has, and still does, experience.

But you keep wearing your useful idiot cap. Stalin and Mao would be proud of you (prior to them purging you).

Since you travel and love China so much, maybe you can move there for good and enjoy looking over your shoulder every minute.

Sad that your reply had zero insight, but alas, what’s to expect from an authoritarian shill.
