107 medals for the Dominican Republic at the Central American Games

Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Republic is ending the 23rd Central American and Caribbean Games, Barranquilla 2018, on a triumphant note with an impressive haul of medals, exceeding all expectations.

The Dominican team won a total of 107 medals: 25 gold, 29 silver and 53 bronze. The country is ranked in fifth place on the final medal table after Mexico, Cuba, Colombia and Venezuela.

The men’s relays – two silver and one bronze medal, brothers Luguelín and Juander Santos, and Andito Charles and Leonel Bonón, with a time of 30.392.

Boxing – two silvers – Mirquin Sena, and Rodrigo Marte, in their respective categories.

Dominican tennis player Víctor Estrella who celebrated his 38th birthday Thursday, won three gold medals.

“These have been my best games,” said Estrella. “It’s been a special week, our best ever. I am very happy and proud of all my team-mates.”
