Senator steals from the people, donates to church: Veteran politico

Santo Domingo.- Veteran politico and physician Humberto Salazar on Tuesday railed against La Altagracia senator Amable Aristy as “a false donor” of the Catholic Church, referring to the lawmaker’s close links to that denomination’s cathedral in his province.

Salazar quoted Pope Francis who on Monday said “those who steal from the people and donate to the church area false Christians.”

The two veteran politicos, who attended a mass at La Pax church in the Centro de los Heroes (La Feria) to mark the Dominican Postal Institute’s anniversary, have been waging a bitter dispute for control of the pro-government PRSC party.

“He should tie a brick to his neck and jump into the sea,” Salazar said, calling Aristy “a thief who steals from the people and donates to the church.”

Salazar, former head of the President’s Commission on AIDS, and member of the PRSC party’s Presidential Council, added that Aristy has no moral character to seek his expulsion from the political organization.
