Human Rights delegation starts its ‘meddling’ in Dominican Republic

Santo Domingo.- The Inter-American Human Rights Commission (IACHR) delegation is meeting with Government officials Monday morning headed by Presidency chief of staff Gustavo Montalvo in the National Palace, where both groups agreed not to issue statements since they’ll provide a joint declaration on Friday.

The IACHR delegation –slammed by some which say it meddles in the country’s internal affairs- arrived at the Palace around 9am and immediately headed to the meeting, the Presidency’s Press Office said there will be no access to the press and would provide videos and photos at the end.

On Sunday, the IACHR, which has been in the country since Saturday, met in a hotel of the capital with some media representatives who oppose the ruling, which seeks to regulate undocumented foreigners and affects thousands of Haitians’ offspring.
