Coraasan pipeline explosion causes damage to hotel and other homes in Santiago

The rupture of a pipe of the Santiago Agreement and Sewerage Corporation (Coraasan) affected the La Rotonda hotel early Thursday morning, as well as several houses that were flooded, in the Los Jazmines sector, south of the city of Santiago de los Caballeros. In addition to generating extensive damage, the failure of the pipeline caused other sectors of the area to be left without drinking water service, while a Coraasan brigade works to solve the failure.

Cristóbal Ortega, who belongs to the management team of the Hotel La Fuente, explained that the strong currents of water destroyed part of the facilities. He said that the water leak began after midnight and it was not until 5:00 in the morning this Thursday that it exploded, destroying the entire electrical part, where the water reached the second level of the building.

The pipe explosion flooded six houses and caused material damage in each of them.
