Santo Domingo.- The Senate approved several initiatives on Wednesday, including the first reading of a bill to amend Law 358-05 on consumer rights. Submitted by Senator Antonio Marte, the bill seeks to address conflicts in the law’s application by clarifying institutional and judicial responsibilities in sanctioning violations, particularly regarding food and medicine safety.
In second readings, the Senate approved a proposal to rename the Cibao Paso Baseball Playground after José Valverde. Additionally, the Atlantic Tourist Boulevard in Samaná will be named after Theodore Chasseriau.
Other measures included approving regional agreements for adult education (CREFAL) and plans for road safety and transportation improvements. Notably, senators endorsed an agreement for Santiago’s monorail project and a solid waste management program in Greater Santo Domingo, in partnership with Spain.
