US envoy meets with official who ´doesn’t bow to pressure´

Santo Domingo.- Justone day after slamming Dominican Republic´s government corruption and ofviolating Haitians´ rights, US ambassador James W. Brewster met with CentralElectoral Board (JCE) president Roberto Rosario, who´s used to getting harshcriticism for his tough stance on row over illegal immigration.

What the diplomat andthe official discussed at the meeting which began around 11:30am has yet to surfacethus far.

Rosario recently saidthe JCE "doesn’t bow to pressure from anybody" and the meeting the USEmbassy had requested would be held this week, citing lack of time in the JCE´sagenda for not holding it previously.
