Deluge of new flights reveal Dominican aviation’s ‘firm steps’

Santo Domingo.- The Civil Aviation Board (JAC) on Friday authorizednew international routes for passengers, mail and cargo for the Dominicanairline Air Century.

The decision taken June 29 authorizes Air Century to conductregular with passenger, cargo and mail flights on the route El Higuero (DR)-Santiagode Cuba and exclusive air cargo service on the route El Higuero-Miami, which isan expansion of its services and options available to customers.

Board president Roger Jover said in addition to AirCentury, it recently approved operational expansion plans of PAWA Dominicana andDominican Wings, the latter with destinations in several countries. "This showsthat the Dominican aviation is taking firm steps towards its development andstrengthening, gaining increasing credibility in international markets."

The JAC also announced approval of charter flights for foreignoperators to link 503 different airports, of which 252 correspond tonon-scheduled passenger service.
