Unheeded warning led to boast mishap; 5 missing and feared dead

SantoDomingo.- Despite warnings from DominicanRepublic’s relief agencies for small craft to remain in port on high waves, agroup of four young couples and a tour organizer set sail to Los Haitises National Park ona yola type boat which sank an hour later near La Pesquera in Maria TrinidadSanchez province.

It’sbelieved that six of the 10 people on the boat drowned, as they were about toreach Los Haitises.

The DominicanNavy said it rescued two survivors, including the captain of the boat and awoman, recovered three bodies and continues to search for the four stillmissing.

in astatement, the Navy said thus far four bodies have been recovered.

"TheNavy of the Dominican Republic will continue to make every effort in the search,together with the Dominican Naval Auxiliary, despite the weather conditions."
