Sur Futuro Foundation hands out kudos focused on water
Santo Domingo.- The SurFuturo Foundation on Wednesday handed the Ecological Planting Award for Water, asfundamental initiative for life and the need to protect its existence.
Sur Futuro´s second annualprizes recognized the creative efforts and incentives for volume production,with seven finalists from a group of 38 projects submitted to the contest.
In category A, theArturo Grullón Prize was awarded to the Juan Santana Gomez Forest ManagementPlan, of Restauracion (northwest) for its eight years of work.
The Jesus EugenioMarcano Fondeur award went to the Clemente Melo Association, a private project whichcreated protected areas to conserve and protect flora and fauna.
The Fountain of LifeProject (wetland planting) of the Punta Cana Ecological Foundation took thePadre Luis Quinn Award for its wetland type wastewater treatment plant, built toservice 150 homes near Verón (east).
In the keynote speech SurFuturo Foundation president Melba Segura de Grullón said the awards whichcoincided with a year in which the prolonged drought affected country, also take place during major milestones.
