Ten metal recyclers to be charged with stealing power lines, towers
Santo Domingo.- State-owned Power Companies (CDEEE) CEO Celso Marranzini revealed Thursday that around 10 owners of metal recycling companies will be charged with stealing power line cables and electricity towers.
“That isn’t cataloged only as larceny but as an act of terrorism, because it can weaken the national power system and the Law punishes that with the maximum penalty for those who commit it,” said the official.
He said some of the owners of the metal recycling companies are free on bail while others are being held in jail.
Marranzini said he doesn’t identify the names of those companies because the Electrical System Prosecutor (PGASE) and the CDEEE attorneys are handling the ongoing case.
