Psychologist Leslie Amell Bogaert presents book “The Instruction Manual Kids Don’t Come With”
Santo Domingo.- The Instruction Manual Kids Don’t Come With, by renowned Dominican school psychologist Leslie Amell Bogaert, was launched on September 5 at the Casa Mello Russo Cultural Center, located in the Colonial Zone.
The event, which took place in a packed venue and was hosted by communicator Iamdra Fermín, attracted the attention of teachers, academics, psychologists, intellectuals, and the general public interested in the complex and fascinating subject of raising and educating children.
Among the attendees were notable figures from the educational field, including Mary Francis Benzo, PhD, academic director of Primaria Montessori, who shared her thoughts on the book with the audience and congratulated the author for such a beautiful and useful work.
The keynote speech was delivered by editor and writer Rafael J. Rodríguez, president of Río de Oro Editores, the publishing house under which the book was published as part of the Magíster Collection, which is dedicated to scientific and educational topics.
Rodríguez read a specially written review for the occasion titled The Instruction Manual Kids Don’t Come With: A Guide to Conscious Love, where he highlighted that the book provides essential keys for teaching children values, behavior, and, ultimately, guiding them towards happiness.
“Thanks to this book, we will all function better because the true magic lies in grasping the general ‘assembly’ instructions for children and applying them creatively. This is why this text is a guide to conscious love, the kind of love that prepares not just for the future of the children, but for the future of the world,” the editor added.
In addition to its content, Rodríguez also emphasized the undeniable beauty of the book as an object in itself and as a work of art, calling its release a milestone for the Magíster Collection of Río de Oro Editores. “This is a book we will proudly promote, delighted to have been part of this magic,” he said.
“Ladies and gentlemen, an instruction manual for the children we bring into this world has been born. There is no other like it. Now it will be ‘easy to assemble’ those little ones to whom we offer, the moment they open their eyes to the light, our central heart and entire soul. I advise everyone to read this beauty for your own good,” the editor concluded.
On her part, Altagracia Mella Russo, founder and director of Casa Mella-Russo Cultural Center, gave a brief overview of the intense work of the center, which always serves art and culture on a non-profit basis.
She also expressed her pride in collaborating on the presentation of a book like Leslie Amell’s and assured that Casa Mella Russo will always be open to similar initiatives.
For her part, the author, Leslie Amell Bogaert, visibly emotional, addressed the guests, thanking them for their presence and extending her gratitude to all those who made the release of The Instruction Manual Kids Don’t Come With possible.
“This is a dream come true,” confessed the psychologist, who also shared some stories with the audience about how the book and the Instagram platform Aprendiendo_rd came to be, the latter now boasting over 20,000 followers, connected and engaged with its quality educational content.
Leslie Amell also explained that the book is made up of a selection of the most notable posts published on Aprendiendo_rd from 2019 to the present.
The prominent school psychologist and educational therapist also mentioned that the book is now available on Amazon and can be ordered directly through the Aprendiendo_rd account, at Río de Oro Editorial, and at bookstores such as Cuesta Libros, SDQ Lee, and Mamey, among others.
The Instruction Manual Kids Don’t Come With is divided into six major chapters or sections titled: Healthy Parenting, Love and Limits, Our Children and Their Learning, Adolescent Children, Family and Mental Health, and Personal Growth.
