Dealers pushed drugs in same building with police precinct

Santo Domingo.- For the second time since 2007 the police precinct at Villa Consuelo, Santo Domingo astonishes neighbors and makes headlines, when another was busted on the on top floor of the building which houses its headquarters. First it was a drug lab and on Saturday a center to distribute cocaine, heroin and marijuana.

The first was on October 6, 2007, when the National Drugs Control Agency (DNCD) busted a lab to process drugs, which unleashed a scandal with several officers fired and a senior police official forced to retire.

The scandal rocked the population which believes the police shuld control the environs where precincts operate .

And it was Villa Consuelo’s residents themselves who rang the alarm that prompted the DNCD to raid the site, where they also busted agents for complicity with drug pushers “right over their heads."
