Government will intervene in the municipality of Las Terrenas

Samaná.- The provincial governor of Samaná, Teodora Mullix, announced that the Dominican government, along with the municipal mayor of Las Terrenas and local authorities, will provide support to the municipality following the floods caused by heavy rains last night.

Mullix stated that they have been in communication with economic soup kitchens since early morning to ensure their arrival in the municipality by afternoon. Additionally, the social plan will provide immediate assistance with food rations, blankets, mattresses, and other relief items.

The Ministry of Public Works (MOPC) is currently analyzing road conditions with maintenance brigades and RD Vial for necessary interventions. A report has also been sent to the engineering division of the Ministry of Education regarding educational facilities that require attention.

Furthermore, the Ministry of Housing will send a commission to assess homes for rebuilding or repair based on their condition. Authorities will maintain close monitoring of the situation and continue to provide full support in collaboration with the mayor’s office and Mayor Eduardo Esteban (Willy).

The provincial government remains committed to working for the people on behalf of President Luis Abinader. Mullix emphasized the importance of unity, teamwork, and support in addressing this situation, stressing that it transcends social class, skin color, or creed, and requires collective efforts from all members of the community.
