Army and police agree to join forces against crime

Santo Domingo.- Army commander Jose Matos de la Cruz and National Police chief Manuel Castro Castillo on Wednesday agreed to increase patrols in areas that have been declared as vulnerable.

Matos de la Cruz explained that the actions will be carried out immediately, starting this weekend. He said the army is ready to assist the police in preventing crime, especially in the capital’s cities and neighborhoods that have become more vulnerable.

The Army commander stressed that crime is under control, and that the Army, along with the police, will not allow further criminal acts. "We are taking actions to strengthen areas, and taking all necessary measures to protect citizens," he said.
