Three people were wounded by gunfire in separate incidents in Santiago

The National Police reported that three people were wounded by gunfire in separate incidents in Santiago de los Caballeros, including a chase stemming from a traffic dispute and an incident in which a man allegedly confronted police officers.

According to authorities, both cases were brought under control thanks to the rapid intervention of the responding patrols and are currently under investigation.

In the first incident, which occurred in the Los Salados sector, a 28-year-old man was injured in the leg after allegedly confronting members of a police patrol with a machete, after supposedly mistaking the officers for people with whom he had personal conflicts.

According to the preliminary report, the police tried to stop him for identification purposes, but he reacted aggressively, so the officers fired a shot to neutralize the situation.

Police indicated that, upon being checked in the system, the injured man appears to have two records for robbery and homicide.

In another incident, recorded on Estrella Sadhalá Avenue, two men were injured during a chase related to an alleged vehicle collision.

One of the victims suffered injuries to both thighs, while the other was accidentally injured in the right shoulder while passing through the area.

Preliminary investigations indicate that several individuals aboard a black vehicle pursued and fired shots at the victims after the traffic incident.

During the police intervention at the scene, a 9mm caliber pistol was seized that had been abandoned near the location, which has no legal documentation at the moment.

The National Police reported that investigations are continuing to clarify both cases and identify the other individuals involved in the events.
