American Airlines launches new Santiago–Philadelphia route
Santiago, D.R.- American Airlines has inaugurated a new seasonal route connecting Cibao International Airport (STI) in Santiago, Dominican Republic, with Philadelphia International Airport (PHL), expanding air connectivity between the Dominican Republic and the United States during the summer travel season.
The new Santiago–Philadelphia service strengthens American Airlines’ presence in the Dominican Republic, where the carrier has operated for more than 50 years. With the launch of the new route, the airline now offers two daily flights from Santiago to Miami and four weekly flights to Philadelphia. In addition, American Airlines resumed its daily Santo Domingo–Philadelphia route from May 21 through September 9, operated with a Boeing 737 aircraft.
Alexandre Cavalcanti, commercial director for Florida, Latin America, and the Caribbean, said the expanded service will help connect more international travelers with Santiago and the Dominican Republic’s cultural and tourism attractions. “With this new service to Philadelphia, we are connecting more parts of the world with the Dominican Republic and Santiago,” he stated.
During the 2026 summer season, American Airlines plans to operate up to 27 daily departures from the Dominican Republic to the United States, including six daily flights from Santo Domingo, up to fourteen peak-day flights from Punta Cana, three peak-day flights from Puerto Plata, multiple daily services from Santiago, and daily operations from La Romana. The airline said the expansion reflects growing demand for travel to the Dominican Republic, one of the Caribbean’s leading tourism destinations.
