Onesvie says Naco inspections were part of seismic evaluation training
Santo Domingo.- The National Office of Seismic Evaluation and Vulnerability of Infrastructure and Buildings (Onesvie) clarified that individuals recently seen conducting inspections in the Naco sector of the National District were part of the Dominican Network of Structural Evaluators (REED), a technical initiative aimed at strengthening seismic prevention and structural safety in the Dominican Republic.
According to Onesvie, the activity was part of a supervised field practice for participants in its Building Evaluation Diploma program, designed to train professionals in structural vulnerability assessment.
The institution explained that the evaluations, carried out from May 12 to 15, consisted only of external visual inspections and did not involve entering private properties or performing any type of intervention. Officials added that all participants were properly identified with institutional credentials during the exercise.
Onesvie said misinformation circulating out of context had caused confusion among some residents by incorrectly associating the technical training activities with unrelated operations.
The agency reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, public safety and seismic prevention efforts, emphasizing the importance of technical training and structural evaluation to protect lives and infrastructure across the country.
Authorities also encouraged citizens interested in obtaining a free building evaluation to contact Onesvie through its official channels and digital platforms for guidance and information about the service.
