Ambassador Leah Campos says U.S. will not comment on individual visa cases
Santo Domingo.- Leah F. Campos reaffirmed the United States’ policy on visa renewals and revocations amid recent public discussion surrounding visa-related decisions involving Dominican figures.
In a statement, the ambassador emphasized that the United States Embassy in the Dominican Republic does not comment on individual visa cases, in line with U.S. government regulations. She reiterated Washington’s commitment to upholding the rule of law and protecting democratic governance.
Campos also criticized attempts to use judicial processes for political purposes, warning that such practices undermine democratic institutions and public trust in justice systems. She stressed that an independent, transparent, and fair judiciary is essential to safeguarding democratic principles.
The diplomat additionally referenced what she described as “lawfare” cases in the United States involving Donald Trump, arguing that American voters ultimately rejected those actions at the polls.
Her remarks come amid heightened public attention over U.S. visa measures, although American authorities maintained that they do not discuss specific cases publicly.
