Saharan dust and an anticyclonic system will keep the weather hot this Sunday
Saharan dust particles and the influence of a high-pressure system ( anticyclonic circulation ) will continue to dominate weather conditions across much of the country, the Dominican Institute of Meteorology ( Indomet ) reported.
According to the agency, mostly sunny and hazy skies are expected this Sunday, with haze due to Saharan dust. Only a few isolated showers are forecast for provinces such as La Altagracia, El Seibo, Hato Mayor, La Vega, Monseñor Nouel, and Santiago Rodríguez, resulting from wind drift and daytime heating.
Indomet (Dominican Meteorological Institute) indicated that conditions will be favorable for outdoor activities , although temperatures will remain hot. Therefore, they recommended that the public drink plenty of fluids, wear light-colored, lightweight clothing, avoid prolonged sun exposure, and stay in cool, well-ventilated areas.
Indomet also urged people sensitive to dust to follow health recommendations. Minimum temperatures will range from 22 to 24°C, while maximum temperatures will range from 30 to 32°C.
Regarding the weather conditions for that day, he explained that, following the passage of a tropical wave south of the Dominican territory in the waters of the Caribbean Sea, along with the influence of a trough, some local downpours with isolated thunderstorms will be recorded during the morning hours over Santo Domingo, San Cristóbal, Peravia, and Barahona, among other provinces.
In the afternoon, the rains will move towards the Cibao region, affecting provinces such as La Vega, Santiago Rodríguez, Valverde, Santiago, and Dajabón.
For the rest of the country, sunny, partly cloudy, and hazy skies will prevail due to the anticyclonic system and Saharan dust.
Forecast for Tuesday
Tuesday will bring mostly fair weather due to an anticyclonic circulation and increased Saharan dust particles. Sunny, overcast skies with isolated clouds are expected, while rainfall will be very scarce.
