German companies explore new investment opportunities in Dominican Republic

Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Republic strengthened its position as a key strategic partner for Germany in Latin America during the first German Week held in Santo Domingo, which brought together more than 30 German companies and institutions. German Ambassador Maike Friedrichsen described bilateral relations as being at their strongest point, driven by expanding economic ties and broader cooperation initiatives.

According to the ambassador, German investment in the Dominican Republic has increased fifteenfold over the past decade, reflecting growing interest in sectors such as free trade zones, logistics, infrastructure, medical technology, and renewable energy. She noted that the relationship continues to deepen as both countries pursue new opportunities for business and development.

Friedrichsen also emphasized that cooperation extends beyond trade and investment, encompassing environmental protection, the circular economy, renewable energy, infrastructure, and the promotion of the rule of law. The event attracted representatives from several Caribbean and Central American countries, reinforcing the Dominican Republic’s role as a regional hub for dialogue and collaboration between Germany and the Caribbean. The ambassador also expressed appreciation for the welcome extended by Vice President Raquel Peña and reaffirmed Germany’s commitment to expanding bilateral cooperation.
