INPOSDOM issues commemorative stamp marking 50 years of Dominican Republic-Guyana relations

Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Postal Institute (INPOSDOM) launched a commemorative stamp marking the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Dominican Republic and Guyana, highlighting five decades of cooperation, friendship, and regional partnership between the two nations.

During the ceremony, INPOSDOM Director General Erick Guzmán described the stamp as a symbol of the strong ties that unite both countries and their shared commitment to regional integration, sustainable development, and continued collaboration. Dominican Ambassador to Guyana Ernesto Torres also emphasized the initiative as a reflection of the growing diplomatic, commercial, and cultural relationship between the two nations.

The special issue consists of 7,500 stamps featuring images of the Santa María de la Encarnación Cathedral and St. George’s Cathedral, iconic landmarks representing the cultural heritage of both countries. The release also commemorates the continued strengthening of bilateral ties since diplomatic relations were established in 1970 and follows recent milestones such as the opening of the Dominican Republic’s embassy in Georgetown in 2023.
