Abinader and Suriname President call for greater international action on Haiti

Santo Domingo.- President Luis Abinader and Suriname’s President Jennifer Geerlings-Simons voiced concern over the ongoing crisis in Haiti and called on the international community to strengthen efforts toward a comprehensive, sustainable solution that respects human rights. During Geerlings-Simons’ official visit to the Dominican Republic, both leaders emphasized that Haiti’s stability is essential for the security, development, and prosperity of the Caribbean region.

Meeting at the National Palace, the two presidents stressed the need for greater involvement from international organizations and partner nations to help address the challenges facing Haiti. They also highlighted the importance of regional cooperation in promoting peace and long-term stability.

The leaders expressed satisfaction with the outcomes of the visit, describing it as an important step in strengthening ties between the Dominican Republic and Suriname. They reaffirmed their commitment to expanding bilateral cooperation, advancing sustainable development initiatives, and deepening Caribbean integration through continued political dialogue and collaboration.
