Guyana expands agricultural cooperation with Dominican Republic
Santo Domingo.- Zulfikar Mustapha is visiting the Dominican Republic to strengthen agricultural cooperation and explore new opportunities for collaboration between the two countries. During his visit, he met with Dominican Agriculture Minister Francisco Oliverio Espaillat Bencosme to discuss initiatives aimed at boosting agricultural production and improving productivity.
The discussions focused on technical cooperation, technology transfer, knowledge sharing, and strategies to increase value-added agricultural production. Both officials examined ways to enhance collaboration in key areas that could benefit farmers and agricultural industries in Guyana and the Dominican Republic.
Minister Mustapha also held talks with former Dominican President Hipólito Mejía, where they exchanged views on the future of Guyana’s agricultural sector and opportunities to support greater production and diversification. The visit forms part of broader efforts led by Guyanese President Irfaan Ali to expand bilateral cooperation in agriculture, processing, technology, and capacity building.
