Iberojet launches direct flights between Barcelona and Punta Cana for summer 2026

Punta Cana.- Iberojet will begin operating direct flights between Barcelona and Punta Cana on June 21, strengthening air connectivity between Spain and the Dominican Republic ahead of the 2026 summer travel season. The new route will operate weekly on Sundays through September, offering travelers a nonstop connection to one of the Caribbean’s most popular tourist destinations.

The addition of Barcelona expands Iberojet’s Dominican Republic network, which already includes year-round direct flights from Madrid and Lisbon. With three departure points across the Iberian Peninsula, the airline aims to meet growing demand from tourists, business travelers, and members of the Dominican diaspora living in Spain.

According to the airline, the new service is particularly important for the Dominican community in Catalonia, providing a more convenient way to travel between Spain and the Dominican Republic without connecting flights. The route is also expected to boost tourism arrivals to Punta Cana during the peak summer months.

Iberojet, part of the Ávoris Corporación Empresarial travel division of the Barceló Group, operates a modern fleet of Airbus aircraft, including A350, A330, and A320 models. The carrier said the Barcelona-Punta Cana route reinforces its commitment to maintaining strong air links between the Dominican Republic and key European markets, with Barcelona joining Madrid and Lisbon as direct gateways to Punta Cana for summer 2026.
