Quito, Ecuador.- The American Chamber of Commerce of the Dominican Republic (AMCHAMDR) participated in the Business Future of the Americas (BFA) 2026 summit, a leading hemispheric business forum that brought together more than 300 business and government leaders from over 20 countries to discuss trade, investment, and regional security.
Held in Ecuador and organized by AMCHAM Quito in partnership with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and AACCLA, the event featured the participation of Ecuadorian President Daniel Noboa, senior government officials, and representatives of the U.S. State Department and U.S. Embassy. Discussions focused on strengthening economic ties between the United States and Latin America, while promoting public-private collaboration as a driver of growth and stability.
During the conference, AACCLA Chairman and former AMCHAMDR president Edwin De los Santos highlighted the importance of security, institutional trust, and the rule of law as key factors in attracting investment and supporting sustainable economic development. Panel discussions also explored supply chain resilience, energy security, digital transformation, cybersecurity, and the growing role of artificial intelligence in shaping the region’s competitiveness.
AMCHAMDR Executive Vice President William Malamud said the topics discussed align closely with the chamber’s strategic priorities, emphasizing the need to create secure, transparent, and reliable investment environments across the Americas. He noted that Latin America has a unique opportunity to position itself as a competitive partner amid the reconfiguration of global supply chains.
The Dominican Republic was also represented by Rocío Velarde, general manager of Citibank N.A. in the country and a member of AMCHAMDR’s board of directors, who participated as a panelist. Through its involvement in BFA 2026, AMCHAMDR reaffirmed its commitment to advancing policies that strengthen the Dominican Republic’s competitiveness and contribute to a more integrated, secure, and prosperous hemisphere.
