Dominican Republic to host Ibero-American film industry meetings

Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Republic will host the 48th Ordinary Meeting of the Conference of Audiovisual and Cinematographic Authorities of Ibero-America (CAACI) and the Ibermedia Program Meeting from June 22 to 26, 2026, at the Hemingway Club in Juan Dolio. The event, organized by the Ministry of Culture and the General Directorate of Cinema (DGCINE), highlights the country’s growing leadership in the regional audiovisual industry.

The meetings will bring together film authorities, government representatives, and audiovisual sector leaders from more than 20 Ibero-American countries to discuss regional cooperation, film circulation, co-production opportunities, and strategies to strengthen the industry. DGCINE Director General Marianna Vargas Gurilieva said the selection of the Dominican Republic reflects the confidence of the Ibero-American audiovisual community and reinforces the country’s role as a key player in the sector.

This year’s gathering will also mark a milestone for the Ibermedia Program, as member countries will choose its new technical and executive secretary for the first time since the program’s creation in 1997. Dominican authorities highlighted the event as recognition of the progress achieved by the national film industry and its growing participation in international cooperation initiatives.

As part of the program, an Ibero-American Film Series will be held at venues including the Cinemateca Dominicana, the Fortaleza Ozama, and the Hemingway Club, showcasing films from across the region and promoting cultural exchange through cinema.
