INPOSDOM launches commemorative stamps for Santo Domingo 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games
Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Postal Institute (INPOSDOM), together with the Organizing Committee of the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026, unveiled an official commemorative postage stamp issue honoring the centennial of the region’s oldest multi-sport event. The Games will take place from July 24 to August 8, 2026, bringing together thousands of athletes from across Central America and the Caribbean.
INPOSDOM Director Erick Guzmán highlighted the role of philately in preserving historical memory and promoting events of national significance, describing the stamp issue as a tribute to the values of excellence, discipline, and regional unity represented by the Games. Organizing Committee President José P. Monegro and Centro Caribe Sports President Luis Mejía Oviedo praised the initiative as a lasting legacy that celebrates a century of sporting integration and friendship among participating nations.
The commemorative issue includes 18,000 stamps and 2,000 souvenir sheets featuring sports from the Santo Domingo 2026 program. Designed by architect Alejandro Vignieri, the collection reflects the Dominican Republic’s commitment to sport and regional cooperation. The Games are expected to host about 6,225 athletes from 37 countries competing in 40 sports and 56 disciplines for 1,555 medals, turning Santo Domingo into the region’s premier sporting venue for more than two weeks.
