U.S. Ambassador tours Grupo SID facilities, highlights bilateral trade opportunities
Santo Domingo.- Ambassador Leah Francis Campos of the United States visited Grupo SID’s facilities to learn about the Dominican conglomerate’s growth, industrial capacity, and contribution to the country’s economic development. During the tour, company executives showcased the production and logistics infrastructure that supports operations across 22 countries.
Grupo SID CEO Ligia Bonetti highlighted the importance of the United States as a strategic partner in the company’s expansion, emphasizing a long-standing commitment to innovation, operational excellence, and mutually beneficial business relationships. With 89 years of history, Grupo SID includes MercaSID, Induveca, Induspalma, and the Leones del Escogido baseball team, generating more than 5,400 direct jobs and operating 20 manufacturing plants and 11 distribution centers.
The visit also underscored the group’s strong ties to the U.S. market, where its products are sold in more than 1,200 retail locations across 14 states and territories, including over 200 Walmart stores. Executives highlighted partnerships with major international companies such as Kimberly-Clark, Kraft Heinz, General Mills, Hershey’s, Amazon, Microsoft, and Blue Yonder, which have helped drive innovation and competitiveness. The meeting served as an opportunity to discuss trade, investment, and cooperation between the Dominican Republic and the United States.
