Public Health intensifies surveillance and warns of sanctions for hygiene violations in food establishments
Santo Domingo.- The Ministry of Public Health reported that it maintains a permanent sanitary surveillance system to monitor food preparation and sales establishments nationwide, with the aim of ensuring compliance with hygiene, safety, and risk prevention standards that protect public health.
The announcement follows the circulation of videos on social media alleging poor hygiene conditions in a food establishment. In response, the ministry activated its inspection protocols and conducted a sanitary evaluation to assess infrastructure, cleanliness, waste management, and pest control measures.
According to the technical inspection, the evaluated establishment showed no critical findings or evidence of pests at the time of the visit and was found to meet established health standards. As part of its broader monitoring efforts, the ministry also carried out random inspections in nearby businesses, where no conditions posing immediate health risks were identified.
Health authorities additionally met with the management of the shopping center where the establishment operates to review sanitation protocols and integrated pest control systems, emphasizing the need for continuous compliance with hygiene standards.
The Ministry of Public Health reiterated that all food establishments are responsible for maintaining strict sanitary conditions through proper cleaning, disinfection, safe food storage, and ongoing pest prevention measures.
The institution confirmed it will continue strengthening health surveillance nationwide and will apply sanctions in cases where violations are detected that could endanger public health.
