Dominican rescuers pull child alive from Venezuela rubble after five days

La Guaira, Venezuela.- The Dominican Republic’s Armed Forces Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) team rescued a 12-year-old boy who had been trapped beneath the rubble of the collapsed La Estrella condominium in Venezuela’s La Guaira state for five days.

The child, identified as Carlos Miguel Gutiérrez, was located using specialized search technology before Dominican rescuers carried out a complex extraction operation following international protocols for collapsed structures to ensure the safety of both the victim and rescue personnel.

The successful rescue marked one of the most significant achievements of the Dominican humanitarian mission in Venezuela. Emergency crews continue search and rescue operations in the area as they work to locate other possible survivors.
