DGM reports 196,321 deportations in first half of 2026

Santo Domingo.- The General Directorate of Migration (DGM) reported that it deported 34,226 Haitian nationals in irregular migratory status during June, bringing the total number of repatriations in the first half of 2026 to 196,321.

According to the agency, since Vice Admiral Luis Rafael Lee Ballester assumed leadership of the DGM on October 1, 2024, the total number of undocumented migrants repatriated has reached 670,500. The operations were carried out with support from the military and other state security agencies as part of the government’s strengthened immigration enforcement strategy.

On June 30, authorities detained 980 undocumented foreigners and deported 1,041 following operations in several provinces, including Greater Santo Domingo, Santiago, Pedernales, Elías Piña, and Dajabón. The DGM said it will continue coordinating with international human rights organizations to ensure that migration procedures respect the dignity of those involved.
