Dominican government invests RD$194 million in Avocado Agroecological Park

San Cristóbal.- The Dominican government, through the Special Fund for Agricultural Development (FEDA), has begun construction of the “Saving the Mountains” Avocado Agroecological Park in San Cristóbal with an investment of nearly RD$194 million. The project aims to combine avocado production, agritourism, and environmental conservation to stimulate the local economy and promote sustainable development.

Backed by President Luis Abinader, the initiative builds on the Dominican Republic’s status as the world’s second-largest avocado producer. The park is designed to strengthen the avocado value chain while creating new opportunities for agricultural research, ecotourism, and domestic tourism, positioning San Cristóbal as a key destination for sustainable tourism.
