Dominican Republic breaks record for arrivals with 6.6 million visitors through June
Dominican tourism achieved its highest semi-annual growth, with the arrival of 6,616,671 visitors in the January-June period, representing a 7.7% increase compared to the same period in 2025 and 11% compared to 2024, revealed the Minister of Tourism, David Collado.
In his traditional conference on the sector’s performance, he also reported that in June alone the country received 975,012 visitors, representing a growth of 6% compared to the same month in 2025 and 5.5% compared to 2024.
The official said that in the first six months of this year, the country received 4,963,542 tourists by air and 1,653,129 cruise ship passengers by sea.
“These two arrivals bring us to a remarkable 6,616,671 visitors during these first six months, leading us to project that we will reach 12 million by the end of the year. A true record,” Collado stated.
He reported that in June alone, the country received 816,517 tourists by air, representing increases of 6% over the same month in 2025, 7.6% over 2024, 15.4% over 2023, and 39.1% over 2019.
Also in June, the country received 158,495 cruise passengers by sea, representing a 6.3% increase over last year.

The main countries of origin for tourists in June were the United States with 53%, Colombia with 8%, Canada with 7%, Puerto Rico and Argentina with 5%, the United Kingdom and Chile with 3%, and Mexico with 2%.
The largest share of flights came from the United States (53%), Panama (7%), Colombia and Puerto Rico (6%), and Canada (5%).
In June, the terminals that received the most flights were Punta Cana with 53%, Las Américas with 28%, Cibao with 12%, and Puerto Plata and El Higüero with 3%, and La Romana and Samaná with 1%.
During the January-June period, hotel occupancy was 71%, while tourist satisfaction was 4.4 out of 5.
Due to the aforementioned level of satisfaction, 92% of visitors say they would return, and 60% would recommend the destination.
Based on the data presented, the minister insisted that the Dominican tourism industry is at its best and therefore projects more than 12 million visitors by the end of the year.
