Intrant says no public transport fare increase has been approved
Santo Domingo.- The National Institute of Transit and Land Transportation (Intrant) has clarified that it has not authorized any increase in public passenger transport fares, urging commuters not to pay higher rates.
Intrant said that under Law 63-17, only the agency has the authority to approve fare adjustments, meaning no driver, transport union, company, or service provider can legally raise prices without prior authorization.
Executive Director Milton Morrison warned that unauthorized fare hikes violate the law and may result in administrative sanctions, including fines. He also encouraged passengers to report any irregular fare charges through Intrant’s official channels, adding that any future approved fare changes will be announced by the institution.
