Citizens hold pot-banging protests across Greater Santo Domingo
Santo Domingo.- Hundreds of citizens participated in peaceful pot-banging protests on Monday night in several areas of Greater Santo Domingo and other parts of the Dominican Republic, expressing dissatisfaction with the country’s social and economic conditions, alleged police abuses, and the government’s handling of issues of national concern.
The demonstration was organized through a public call by artist and activist Melimel, who encouraged people to protest peacefully from their homes and communities. Residents responded by banging pots and pans from balconies, sidewalks, and streets in neighborhoods across Greater Santo Domingo, while similar demonstrations were also reported in La Vega and Jarabacoa.
