Casa del Cordón opens new exhibition celebrating Dominican landscapes and culture
Santo Domingo.- The Taíno Cultural Center Casa del Cordón, an initiative of Banco Popular Dominicano, has opened “Dominican Narratives of the Natural and Cultural Landscape: Banco Popular Dominicano Collection,” a new exhibition showcasing works by 18 renowned Dominican artists that explore the country’s landscapes, traditions and national identity.
Curated by historian and art critic Myrna Guerrero, the exhibition features paintings, drawings and photographs from Banco Popular’s art collection, highlighting themes such as nature, rural life, architecture, urban spaces, agriculture and Dominican cultural heritage.
The exhibition is part of Casa del Cordón’s cultural program, which aims to expand public access to Dominican artistic heritage through temporary exhibitions, educational activities and guided tours.
The exhibition opened on July 9 and will be on display Tuesday through Sunday, from 9:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., at the Taíno Cultural Center Casa del Cordón. Visitors can also explore the museum’s permanent exhibition, “Our First Settlers,” which features more than 350 original archaeological artifacts documenting the history of the island’s pre-Columbian inhabitants.
