Collado highlights Puerto Rico as a key tourism market for the Dominican Republic
San Juan, Puerto Rico.- Tourism Minister David Collado said Puerto Rico continues to emerge as a key source market for the Dominican Republic, with visitor arrivals from the island increasing 7.7% so far this year.
Speaking before more than 200 travel agents and media representatives in San Juan, Collado noted that 269,000 Puerto Rican tourists visited the Dominican Republic in 2025 and projected that the figure will exceed 290,000 by the end of 2026.
The minister attributed the growth to stronger tourism promotion and improved air connectivity between the two Caribbean destinations. He highlighted the entry of Arajet into the Puerto Rico market, saying the airline has increased flight options and improved fare competitiveness.
During his visit, Collado also led a meeting with the Dominican Republic’s public-private tourism marketing committee to outline new strategies aimed at attracting more Puerto Rican travelers to the country.
