Complaints about prolonged power outages affect parts of Sosúa

Sosúa, Puerto Plata. – Residents of several sectors of Sosúa reported prolonged power outages on Monday, stating that they were without electricity for up to four hours amid the high temperatures affecting the area.

Through social media posts, residents expressed their dissatisfaction and requested that EDENORTE offer a solution. Among the communities mentioned are Sosúa Abajo, Maranatha, and other neighborhoods located from the entrance of Maranatha toward the lower part of the municipality.

One of those affected stated:

“Four hours without electricity and nothing was damaged. We need to sleep in peace and not in this stifling heat.”

The complaints come as numerous users demand greater stability in the electricity service and more timely communication from the distributor about the causes of the interruptions.

EDENORTE has published its planned maintenance schedule for the period from June 27 to July 3, 2026. However, it has not yet been publicly confirmed whether the reported power outages in these areas of Sosúa are due to scheduled work or an unforeseen breakdown.

InfoENN will attempt to obtain an official statement from EDENORTE regarding the disruptions reported by residents and will update this information as soon as it receives a response.

As long as the DR continues to fail in delivering consistent, 24/7/365 power to its people, it will always be a third-rate country. The appalling service and execrable communication are unacceptable.
