Ministry of Tourism creates task force to strengthen Bayahibe’s development

Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Republic’s Ministry of Tourism, together with community leaders, hotel operators, and local merchants, has created a permanent working group to coordinate strategies aimed at ensuring the sustainable development of Bayahibe.

The initiative will serve as a platform for dialogue, planning, and monitoring of key projects focused on improving destination management, strengthening Bayahibe’s tourism image, organizing commercial activity, and protecting its natural and cultural resources.

Participants agreed that future tourism growth should be organized, inclusive, and sustainable while balancing investment opportunities with the well-being of the local community. The Ministry of Tourism described Bayahibe as one of the country’s most strategic destinations and reaffirmed its commitment to supporting efforts that enhance its national and international competitiveness.

The working group will prioritize issues such as reorganizing tourism areas, improving the urban landscape, coordinating promotional campaigns, enhancing security and service quality, and preserving the environment. Members will meet regularly to oversee a shared agenda and ensure that development initiatives respond to the destination’s long-term needs.

Officials and private sector representatives said the collaboration will help preserve Bayahibe’s identity while creating a more competitive, organized, and sustainable tourism destination for residents and visitors alike.
