New York donates 849 bulletproof vests to Dominican security agencies
Santo Domingo.- The New York State Department of Correction and Community Supervision (DOCCS) has donated 849 bulletproof vests to the Dominican Republic for use by personnel from the General Directorate of Penitentiary and Correctional Services (DGSPC), the Public Prosecutor’s Office, and the National Drug Control Directorate (DNCD).
The donation was received by DGSPC Director Roberto Santana Sánchez alongside Attorney General Yeni Berenice Reynoso, DNCD President Vice Admiral José Manuel Cabrera Ulloa, and Public Prosecutor’s Office Director of Prosecution Wilson Camacho.
Santana described the donation as an important contribution to protecting prison and law enforcement personnel, noting that the initiative was coordinated by Dominican Consul General in New York Jesús Vásquez Martínez.
Attorney General Reynoso said the vests will enhance the safety of prosecutors during raids and investigations, while Cabrera Ulloa noted they will also support anti-drug operations and evidence collection.
Consul Vásquez thanked the New York prison system for its cooperation, highlighting the continued collaboration between both jurisdictions on public security.
