Fitness influencer Paymi Marte alleges US$7,900 theft at Santo Domingo hotel

Santo Domingo.- Dominican fitness influencer and content creator Paymi Marte reported the alleged theft of US$7,900 from her hotel room in Santo Domingo, where she was staying after traveling from the United States to undergo surgery.

Marte said the money disappeared from her room at the InterContinental Real Santo Domingo just one day before her scheduled procedure.

In videos shared on her social media accounts, Marte said she initially reported the incident to hotel management but felt her complaint was not handled with the seriousness she expected. She later filed an official complaint with the National Police.

“Today is the day before my surgery and I’m facing this situation. How can this happen? You stay at such a prestigious hotel, paying so much money, precisely because you want to feel safe when traveling with your valuables, money, clothes, and personal belongings,” she said.

Her sister, fellow influencer Belisa González, also addressed the incident on social media, explaining that Marte discovered her wallet open inside the hotel room they were sharing with their mother before realizing the cash was missing.

Marte, who resides in the United States, has more than 325,000 followers on Instagram, where she shares content focused on fitness, wellness, motherhood, and lifestyle. She also describes herself as a wellness coach, mentor, and entrepreneur.

As of publication, the InterContinental Real Santo Domingo has not issued a public statement regarding the alleged theft, and authorities have not released additional details about the investigation.
